In Focus Eyecare

From In Focus Eyecare customer Rob J. in Fort Mill, SC: “I have had vision problems and been in glasses since I was 17 months old. Our 9 year old inherited my eyes. She has been great with her and my other daughter for years. It’s very rare to find a doctor who is great with children and adults (as patients and parents of a patient). They love Dr. Neff. We were previously seeing another Fort Mill eye doctor, but our insurance changed. THANK GOD it did. While our other doctor was nice and great with kids, she TOTALLY MISSED our oldest daughter’s SEVERE vision problems! Dr. Neff found it immediately and worked with us (and a specialist) to begin therapy to restore some vision. We are beyond happy to have her as our eye doctor. She gives my daughters the same care she’d give her own children. There’s not more you could ask for than that!”

Before I began working with In Focus Eyecare, they experienced what many successful entrepreneurs experience – TAX SURPRISES! Most small businesses today are organized as flow through entities, so the income and losses from those businesses flow through to the individual taxpayers – the individual taxpayer pays taxes, not the business. In the early years, losses generated from upfront expenditures to start a business result in great tax benefits for a taxpayer. Naturally, a CPA can be a hero by leveraging those losses and minimizing tax liabilities. However, as the business grows, so too does income and potential tax obligations. Now, the CPA has the even greater responsibility of planning and managing those liabilities and, more importantly, managing the expectations of his/her client. Todd and Andrea are my friends, and they have been such a pleasure to work with. My role in their business, outside of financial statement and tax preparation, has been to manage expectations and take some of the uncertainty out of year end taxes. I’m not sure that I will ever be able to totally alleviate Andrea’s fear of taxes, but I’m sure anyone reading this can relate!
