Featured in the Charlotte Observer May 13th, 2015 as “The Forerunner of Cool: Phat Burrito serves up its own style in South End. With no prior restaurant or kitchen experience, Phat Burrito owner Stephen Justice opened the eatery in South End because he craved California-style burritos when he moved to the Queen City. Now 17 years later, the restaurant has earned the Settlers Award for its contributions to enhancing the quality of life in Charlotte’s Center City area.”
I was fortunate enough to have been referred to Stephen Justice to perform a cost analysis of Phat Burrito’s menu for the purposes of eventually franchising his concept. Like many small businesses, Phat Burrito needed to understand its cost structures to determine its profitability, break-even point, and potential areas for improvement and growth. Since that time, I have taken over all financial statement, tax planning, and tax preparation duties. However, there is only one person responsible for Phat Burrito’s success and unique style – that’s Stephen Justice. With the growth of South End and the enormous amounts of hard work by Stephen and his team, the future is bright for Phat Burrito. And, in my opinion they have the best salsa in Charlotte, NC!
